Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Geotag.com
What is Geotag.com?
Geotag.com is a web-based platform for organizing photos by geographic location. Upload your photos, place them on an interactive map, edit GPS metadata, process images in batch, and optionally publish to Google Business Profile. It works for personal trip memories and professional location management alike.
Who is Geotag.com for?
Three main groups: travelers and photographers who want to organize photos on a map, businesses that manage location-based content (SEO agencies, real estate agents, field inspectors), and enterprises needing custom deployments with API access and white-label options.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Geotag.com runs entirely in your browser. It's also a Progressive Web App (PWA), so you can install it on your phone or desktop for a native app experience with offline support and auto-sync.
What photo formats are supported?
You can upload JPEG, PNG, HEIC (.heic), and WebP images up to 100 MB each. For processing and export, you can convert between JPEG, WebP, PNG, and HEIC formats.
How much does the Personal plan cost?
The Personal plan is $12 per year (that's $1 per month). It includes 10 GB storage, 1,000 places, and unlimited photos. You can also upgrade storage to 100 GB and 10,000 places for $6 per month.
How does Business plan pricing work?
The Business plan is $100 per user per year (about $10 per user per month). The minimum is 3 users. Each user adds 100 GB storage, 10,000 places, and 1 Google Business Profile slot. So the base plan starts with 300 GB, 30,000 places, and 3 Google Business Profile listings.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. You can start for free with 100 places, 100 photos, and basic features including photo organization by location and search & filtering. No credit card required.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Yes. All paid plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings — you'll keep access until the end of your billing period.
What is photo stamping?
Photo stamping burns visible text onto your images — GPS coordinates, date and time, and custom descriptions. It's useful for proving location authenticity in field work, inspections, and real estate documentation.
Can I edit EXIF metadata?
Yes, on the Business plan. You can write GPS coordinates, descriptions, keywords, and date/time directly into your photo files. This is essential for SEO agencies who need correct metadata in their image files.
How does batch processing work?
Select multiple photos and apply the same operations to all of them: geotag, write EXIF metadata, convert format, resize, stamp, or download. Process hundreds of images with consistent settings in one operation.
What is the Google Business Profile integration?
On the Business plan, you can connect your Google Business Profile via OAuth and publish geotagged photos directly to your listings. This helps local businesses improve their visibility with location-verified images.
How are team permissions structured?
Team members are invited with one of five access levels: None, Read (view only), Contribute (upload and create), Maintain (edit and delete), or Admin (full access including user management). The account owner controls all permissions.
Where is my data stored?
All data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform with HTTPS encryption. Photos are stored in Google Cloud Storage with signed, time-limited download URLs. Your metadata is stored in a PostgreSQL database with PostGIS for geographic queries.
What happens to my original photos?
On the Business plan, original files are preserved. For all plans, Geotag.com automatically generates 11 optimized size variants of each upload (from 25px thumbnails to full resolution) for fast browsing and flexible downloads.
Does Geotag.com work offline?
Geotag.com is a PWA with auto-sync every 60 seconds. You can browse cached content offline, and changes sync automatically when you're back online. Install it on your device for the best experience.
